A walk-in shower can improve accessibility and make a compact bathroom feel more open, but removing a home’s only bathtub may not suit every household or future buyer. The right choice depends on who uses the bathroom, whether another tub remains in the home, the available space, and the scope of plumbing and waterproofing work required.
Key takeaways
- Consider the needs of children, pets, guests, and anyone with limited mobility.
- Think carefully before removing the only bathtub in the home.
- Include waterproofing, ventilation, plumbing, and permits in the project plan.
- Ask a local real estate professional how the change may affect marketability in your area.
